what makes a bandd client or a bandd project? We love being involved from projects from the ground up. I would say the bulk of our clients are young families looking to invest in their homes for the first time and abandon their Ikea ways and make a statement. We also get a lot of empty nesters; their kids have just left the house and they're ready to make their space their own for their retirement years. Our projects are mostly in and around Austin. let's talk about the small drive remodel. how did you end up running swiss cross all the way up to the ceiling? The client was super fun and open to a lot of ideas. It's a very, very small powder room, so I knew I wanted to make a big statement. We knew we didn't want to do wallpaper, and we wanted the tile to crawl up the ceiling a little bit. Once we knew that, we started looking at different shapes that would give us an unjagged rough edge so it doesn't end abruptly. Swiss Cross came up, and was a natural fit. And the green color, completely unexpectedly, matches the green in the cabinetry in the kitchen. We didn't even plan on it, and it pulled the house together. Tile has become something people want to invest in. They used to be okay with white subway tile, and now people want to make an impact. I think they're more interested than they used to be in material treatments. So instead of painting and switching out a light fixture, they're tiling and adding wallpaper. They've gotten over, "what won't I like in five years?" Or maybe they've seen us use tile more and so they're more trusting.
